Symons Clark Logistics is a 150-year-old, family-owned, Port Adelaide-based transport and logistics company. Our experience brings premium wharf cartage and container transport services, with a focus on providing customers with complete logistics solutions including warehousing, container pack/unpack, distribution, over-dimensional, heavy haulage, project logistics, and Australia-wide bulk haulage.
The Transport Operations Manager – Container Operations is responsible for managing and optimizing the daily activities of transport staff and overseeing the movement of goods and materials. The role involves developing and implementing operational procedures that ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, and optimizing safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Providing strong leadership, guidance, and direction to the Transport Team.
- Overseeing transport operations, including scheduling and routing for drivers and vehicles.
- Ensuring drivers adhere to safety standards and traffic laws.
- Managing driver and vehicle logs to ensure compliance.
- Maintaining records related to transport activities such as vehicle inspections, driver logs, and fuel usage.
- Communicating effectively with clients, customers, and team members to ensure smooth operations.
- Resolving issues or conflicts during transport operations.
- Training and developing transport staff on safety procedures and operational protocols.
- Developing and implementing policies to improve efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
- Monitoring transport costs and financial performance, implementing cost-saving measures as needed.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Experience managing multi-site operations.
- Strong leadership, people management, and team development skills.
- Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in data analysis to improve performance.
- Strong financial and budget management skills.
- Knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance requirements.
- Successful candidates will be required to complete a Pre-Employment Medical, Drug and Alcohol Screening, and Police Check.
