Stuart Lodge provides transitional accommodation for singles and families in Alice Springs who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. It has 33 rooms (up to 68 beds).
Our support services include assessment, case coordination, and case management for participants experiencing homelessness residing at Stuart Lodge. We actively seek to expand family support partnerships with parenting and childcare programs across the region to improve family outcomes across all NT services.
This is an on-site position based at Stuart Lodge. As a Housing Case Manager, you will work closely with a diverse and often vulnerable client group, delivering culturally safe, trauma-informed, person-centred, solution-focused case management. Your role involves assessing needs, advocating for clients, and coordinating support services to help them achieve housing stability and independence. You will contribute to positive outcomes for clients and their families while working as part of a supportive, multidisciplinary team.
Your Key Responsibilities- Deliver person-centred case management services using Mission Australia's National Case Management Approach to support clients in their transition to stable housing.
- Conduct intake assessments, develop tailored case plans, and maintain a caseload of approximately 20–25 clients while supporting additional individuals as needed.
- Assist clients with tenancy applications, liaise with housing providers and government agencies, and provide practical help in setting up and maintaining housing.
- Refer and connect clients with appropriate services (e.g., AOD, mental health, financial counselling, childcare), advocating for their ongoing support and wellbeing.
- Respond to crises professionally, identify risks, and implement strategies to manage safety and engagement.
- Maintain accurate, timely records and contribute to internal reporting, continuous improvement processes, and team case reviews.
- Engage in culturally safe and trauma-informed practice, maintaining strong partnerships with Aboriginal communities and services across the region.
- Minimum Cert IV in a relevant field (or willingness to study), or a degree with at least 1 year of experience in case management or community services.
- Demonstrated experience in housing, homelessness, or residential settings, with the ability to manage a diverse caseload and support clients with complex needs.
- Deep understanding of Aboriginal cultural protocols and ability to provide culturally responsive support within a trauma-informed framework.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, with confidence presenting to and liaising with government, non-government, and community stakeholders.
- Capacity to stay calm, compassionate, and resilient in challenging situations.
- Skilled in building rapport, developing goal-oriented support plans, and empowering clients towards self-agency and stability.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and data systems, with strong organisational skills.
- First Aid Certificate is desired but not required.
- Must have a full driver's licence with no restrictions.
Before starting, you will need to undertake a national police history check, provide qualifications and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
