People Business Partner | 12 Month Contract – Gilchrist Connell

The firm is looking for a seasoned People Business Partner to join on a 12-month parental leave contract to collaborate with Principals and senior stakeholders delivering people solutions across the employee lifecycle.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with Principals and senior stakeholders to deliver people strategies aligned with the firm's goals.
  • Provide coaching on performance, engagement, and leadership development.
  • Lead annual talent, remuneration and workforce planning processes.
  • Drive key firm-wide projects (L&D, DEI, wellbeing and more).
  • Offer practical support on complex employee relations matters.
Qualifications
  • At least 5+ years of experience as a senior People/HR Business Partner, ideally in law firms.
  • Strong knowledge of IR, awards and compliance with practical advisory capabilities.
  • Tech-savvy with HRIS experience (Elmo or similar); strong data and records management.
  • HR qualification or relevant industry experience and ability to apply it.
  • Proven ability to build trust with stakeholders and influence outcomes through credibility and relationships.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage senior leaders, teams and external partners.
