Our client is leader in residential civil construction, delivering high-quality subdivisions, earthworks, roads, drainage, and infrastructure for major townhouse developments. As a vertically integrated developer and builder with a strong reputation for safety, quality, and innovation, we're seeking a driven and experienced General Manager of Civil Construction to lead our civil division and take it to the next level.

Reporting directly to the CEO, this role will oversee the strategic and operational management of our civil construction projects, ensuring timely delivery, budget control, and high-quality outcomes. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring both business acumen and extensive industry experience. With a pipeline of projects and an ambitious vision for the future, we are seeking a seasoned leader to join our executive team and spearhead the continued growth and success of our residential civil construction ventures.

Key Responsibilities

As the General Manager of Civil Construction, you will:

Lead End-to-End Project Delivery: Oversee the full lifecycle of residential civil projects-including subdivisions, roads, drainage, and earthworks-ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Provide Strategic and Operational Leadership: Direct project teams, supervisors, foremen, subcontractors and engineers with a focus on performance, collaboration, and innovation to drive successful project outcomes.
Drive Financial Performance: Manage budgeting, forecasting, and cost control to optimise profitability while meeting project specifications and client expectations.
Optimise Project Delivery and Processes: Develop and implement strategies to improve efficiency, address key challenges such as labour shortages and supply chain disruptions, and enhance project outcomes.
Ensure Compliance and Risk Management: Uphold WHS regulations, environmental standards, and company policies, ensuring all projects meet safety, legal, and operational requirements.
Strengthen Stakeholder Relationships: Build and maintain strong partnerships with developers, local authorities, subcontractors, and clients to support project success and secure repeat business
Contribute to Growth and Business Development: Support tendering strategies, and contribute to the broader growth of the civil division through proactive business development.

About You

You bring a wealth of experience in residential civil construction with a proven track record as a leader in managing complex projects. Key attributes and requirements include:

Experience: Minimum of 5 years in civil construction management, particularly in residential townhouse projects. Experience running your own civil business is highly regarded.
Leadership: Exceptional team leadership and mentoring skills with the ability to inspire staff and stakeholders.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
Expertise: Strong understanding of industry regulations, compliance requirements, infrastructure, and land development processes.
Communication: Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills to manage diverse stakeholder groups.
Strategic Execution: A strategic and innovative thinker who excels in dynamic, fast-paced environments, with a proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and results.
Resilience: Ability to navigate challenges such as labour shortages and fluctuating material costs.
