Overview

Our client, a respected leader in the industrial manufacturing sector, is seeking a General Manager of Operations to oversee multiple sites and play a pivotal role in shaping the next chapter of their growth. This is a senior leadership opportunity to inspire people, align teams, and drive meaningful change across a complex and evolving organisation. The role requires setting strategy across a workforce of over 500 people while remaining grounded on the floor with operational involvement in supply chain and procurement, supported by strong financial acumen.

As General Manager of Operations, you will be accountable for performance across several facilities, ensuring that production, service delivery, and supply chain operations are seamlessly executed. You will translate strategy into action, creating clarity of direction and building operational excellence at scale. You will mentor and empower site managers, guide frontline leaders, and foster a culture of trust and accountability. You will champion values-led leadership to ensure teams deliver against financial and operational objectives while feeling connected to the purpose of their work.

This is a transformation mandate. You will lead modernisation and growth, embedding continuous improvement and best practices, strengthening systems, and aligning operations with long-term strategic goals. You will shape how the organisation evolves.

Qualifications and experience

  • Proven leader with experience managing multi-site operations in complex industrial or manufacturing environments
  • Strong P&L accountability
  • Leadership style that balances commercial acumen with empathy, authenticity, and empowerment of people
  • Based in Sydney or willing to relocate at short notice
  • Experience in pharmaceuticals, food manufacturing, or packaging is desirable
