We are seeking HR Complex Case Officers and Managers to join the Conduct, Performance and Reviews team.

All Case Officers and Managers undertake two or more of the following case types :

  • Preliminary and formal investigations of suspected breaches of the APS Code of Conduct
  • Management of employee complaints
  • Reviews of action / employment decisions
  • Formal underperformance processes, and
  • Alternative dispute resolution and / or mediation.

You may also be required to fulfil the role of suspension delegate or breach decision maker on investigations into potential breaches of the APS Code of Conduct.

The roles

As an APS 6 HR Complex Case Officer , you will :

Manage / investigate complex, sensitive cases with guidance from your EL 1 Team leaderInterpret and apply relevant legislation, policy, and the ATO Enterprise AgreementWrite and present clear and credible briefings, reports and recommendationsIdentify and escalate risks appropriately, providing informed analysis and optionsHelp improve HR policies and processes so that they are contemporary and best practiceBuild trusted relationships with stakeholders, including union representatives and managers, and contribute actively to a respectful, ethical and inclusive team culture.

As an EL 1 HR Complex Case Manager (Team Leader) , you will :

Manage / investigate complex, sensitive cases independently, and develop case handling strategies for high-risk matters that cut across case typesInterpret and apply relevant legislation, policy, and the ATO Enterprise AgreementPrepare and present clear, concise, and credible briefings, reports, and written recommendationsGive clear, credible advice to managers and senior executives, guiding them to navigate risks and make sound, defensible decisions aligned with APS standardsLead the development and / or review of HR policies and processes so that they are contemporary and best practiceBuild trusted relationships with stakeholders, including senior leaders, union representatives and managersSupervise and coach employees, and foster an inclusive, ethical and respectful team culture.

These roles may be offered on an ongoing or non-ongoing basis in Brisbane CBD, Canberra, Hobart or Sydney CBD . A merit pool may be formed and used to fill future similar vacancies in these locations and other locations within the same metropolitan area.
