Job Description

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone beginning their Buying career This role will allow you to contribute to the growth and success of our retail brand while gaining meaningful experience and working in a creative and analytical environment.

As the Assistant Book Buyer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Book Buying team, particularly the Buying Manager, in executing buying processes across our retail network.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting book buying process, including sourcing products from suppliers, placing orders and analysing trends.
  • Liaising with key contacts such as book publishers, marketing colleagues and the store network.
  • Coordinating the book merchandise team calendar in respect to scheduling key suppliers meetings.
  • Working closely with the Marketing team on the preparation, including proofing, of all marketing collateral in respect of books sourced or bought.
  • Working closely with the Website team on ensuring key product is being actively promoted.
  • Assisting in the preparation of collateral for key meetings, negotiations and conferences.
  • Assisting in the preparation and rollout of monthly promotions.
Desired Skills and Experience

What you will bring:

  • Ideally, prior book knowledge working either at a Publisher/Retailer or retail store.
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and a quick learner with other systems.
  • Excellent organisation skills and ability to multitask and high attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Passion and strong knowledge of books.
  • Works well within a team environment.
