The opportunity

Working closely with the hospitality team, you will work within a supportive team environment but still have autonomy in your day to be responsible for delivering resident-centric care in a timely and compassionate manner, enabling residents to live a happy, healthy and safe life in our homes. This role is ideal for individuals studying cookery who want hands-on experience in a supportive and rewarding setting.

Role Responsibilities

  • As an integral part of our aged care facility, the Kitchen Assistant helps ensure the well-being of residents by preparing and delivering nutritious meals in a professional and efficient manner.
  • Prepare daily meals and beverages that meet the individual needs of each resident, including special dietary requirements, as instructed by the Head Chef. Crafting well-balanced and nutritious meals is central to our service.
  • Demonstrate excellent safety awareness, adhering to hygiene and sanitation protocols in food preparation and serving areas to meet regulatory standards.
  • Bring genuine care and compassion to meal times, making each dining experience enjoyable for our elderly residents.
  • Contribute to a positive team environment; arriving on time, staying informed, and supporting colleagues to keep the kitchen running smoothly.

Qualifications

  • Eligible to work in Australia and living in the local community.
  • Prior experience in preparing and delivering meals in a commercial environment.
  • Must have NDIS Worker Screening Clearance or ability to apply for one (at your own cost; card is valid for 5 years).
