The Legal team is responsible for managing the legal affairs of the company, including providing legal counsel across the organization, handling disputes, and creating and enforcing intellectual property.
Let's talk about the team:
Working with the Head of Privacy Governance, the Privacy Specialist will serve as a key member of the Privacy Governance team and support ResMed's mission to improve the quality of life of our patients, customers, and partners. Working from the local ResMed office (and/or remote hybrid working arrangement), you will be primarily supporting ResMed's compliance with global privacy requirements, especially as they relate to ResMed's public-facing obligations: data subject requests, privacy incident management, and privacy notices.
Who are we looking for?
You have experience working as part of a global privacy team at a multinational company. You are able to organize and streamline a complex set of privacy requirements across business lines and jurisdictions. You have good stamina and thrive in fast-paced, innovative, diverse work environments. You have experience in project management and/or coordinating and driving cross-functional projects in high-pressure situations.
Let's Talk About the role:
Point of contact for global data subject requests, including coordinating and streamlining divergent processes for multiple business lines across the Americas, EMEA, and APAC regions.
Handle initial intake from multiple channels and assist with responses to inquiries from regulators, customers and patients, team members, customer support, and other partners.
Assist with global privacy governance projects, including privacy laws from California, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Virginia, and other state privacy laws; federal privacy laws and regulations, including HIPAA.
Track and support privacy's data incident response activities and collaborate with various stakeholders, including the cybersecurity response team.
Assist implementation and periodic reviews of policies, notices, and practices to facilitate compliance with ResMed's global privacy obligations.
Research, monitor and summarize changes in privacy laws and regulations and understand their potential implications to the digital health solutions of ResMed and its customers.
Prepare resources to support privacy compliance including FAQs and other informational materials; conduct privacy-related training and addressing questions on privacy compliance.
Let's Talk About you:
Relevant privacy experience, including at a law firm, consultancy and/or in-house preferably at a multinational company in the medical device industry and/or technology and SaaS sector.
Bachelor's degree, law or business studies preferred.
English language proficiency.
Knowledge and experience in global privacy laws and data protection frameworks.
Customer service focused with excellent analytical and problem resolution skills. Solution-oriented with the ability to think ahead and give practical advice by balancing business needs with legal risks.
One or more certifications from recognized institutions; for example, IAPP's CIPP certification or equivalent (with an emphasis on CIPM) is preferred.
Familiar with Privacy management and automation tools (e.g. OneTrust) is a plus.
Experience working in diverse teams, cultural awareness and willingness to adjust work hours to time zone requirements from time to time.
