Job Overview

As a key member of our Data, Product & Technology - Enterprise team, you will play a vital role in driving commercial growth and deeper engagement with data-driven solutions. This exciting opportunity involves implementing and maintaining critical frameworks that enable ambitious innovation while upholding the highest ethical standards and robust privacy protections.

We are seeking a talented professional to join our team as a Data Governance & Privacy Manager. In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a tangible impact at the forefront of the media industry.

Responsibilities
  • Implementing governance: You will be responsible for implementing and maintaining our AI and Data Governance frameworks.
  • Championing data integrity: You will support the management of our key data assets, ensuring their quality and integrity are fit for purpose.
  • Driving privacy compliance: You will conduct Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) for new projects, ensuring we meet our obligations under the Privacy Act and the APPs.
  • Managing risk: You will help identify and mitigate risks associated with data privacy and the responsible use of AI.
  • Collaborating and educating: You will partner with teams across the business to embed a 'Privacy-by-Design' culture and contribute to training programs.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 3-5 years of professional experience in data privacy, data governance, or technology risk.
  • A strong, practical understanding of the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
  • Hands-on experience conducting Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs).
  • An understanding of data management principles, including data quality and lifecycle management.
  • A solid grasp of AI concepts (like machine learning and generative AI) and their associated privacy challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative spirit, with the ability to translate complex ideas into practical advice.
Desirable Skills & Experience

While not essential, having the following skills and experience would be highly desirable:

  • Experience working within the media, entertainment, advertising, or technology industries.
  • Familiarity with data governance roles and cloud platforms (e.g., Google Cloud Platform).
  • Familiarity with emerging AI governance, safety, or ethics frameworks.
  • Relevant industry certifications (CIPM, CIPT, CIPP/E, AIGP).
