Environment Team Leader

Lismore City Council, Australia Cyfoeth Naturiol Cymru Full time
The role

Are you an experienced environmental professional with a passion for protecting Wales' natural resources? Are you ready to lead a high-performing team and make a real impact on the ground? If so, we want to hear from you.

We're looking for a confident, organised, and inspiring individual to take on the role of Team Leader for our Monmouth & Torfaen Environment Management Team. In this key leadership post, you'll oversee a team of Environment Officers working across Protected Sites, Fisheries, Biodiversity, and Incident Response - all while driving real environmental improvements in South East Wales.

You'll shape local regulatory priorities, authorise key decisions including site consents and enforcement actions, and ensure the team is working safely, efficiently, and in line with NRW's values. This is a fast-paced, varied role with a wide scope - from building work plans based on national priorities, to developing your team's skills and fostering a strong team culture.

You'll also have the opportunity to collaborate with fellow Team Leaders and technical experts across Wales, contributing to our wider service delivery and helping shape environmental policy in action.

If you're ready to lead a committed team in tackling some of Wales' most important environmental challenges - and want to be part of an organisation that truly values flexible working, wellbeing, and professional growth - then this is the job for you.

As an organisation we support flexible working. You will be contracted to the NRW office at the above location and a suitable hybrid working pattern will be agreed on appointment. Any regular face to face meetings or training will be planned in advance.

To make an informal enquiry about this role, please contact John Rock

Interviews will take place on Microsoft Teams.

Successful applicants will be subject to a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service Check (DBS) check. Appointments are normally made within 4 to 8 weeks of the closing date.
