Overview

Team Leader - Domestic Family Violence and Sexual Assault Service (DFV&SAS) role at Illawarra Mercury. The position is Permanent Part Time (36 hours per week), salary $ $67.15 per hour + 12% super & salary packaging. Location: Urunga House, Wollongong. REQ Applications close: 3 September 2025. Responsibilities
  • As Team Leader you will use your leadership skills to build team culture and support your dedicated team to care for people who have experienced sexual abuse, adults affected by domestic and family violence, and children under 10 and their families presenting with problematic and/or harmful sexualised behaviours. You will lead the ISLHD Domestic Family Violence and Sexual Assault Service (DFVSAS) on lands of Dharawal and Yuin nations.
  • Lead assessments, crisis and ongoing counselling with adults and children who have experienced trauma related to domestic violence and/or sexual assault.
  • Provide clinical and line management oversight and guidance to DFVSAS Counsellors, ensuring timely, effective, high quality therapeutic services. The Team Leader will also hold a small clinical caseload.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to service development and quality improvements.
Qualifications
  • Degree in social work or psychology and full AHPRA registration or eligible for AASW Membership.
  • Extensive direct clinical experience (postgraduate Social Work / Psychology) in psychosocial assessments, therapeutic counselling, risk assessment and safety planning, advocacy, psychoeducation, report writing, group work and court support with people who have experienced trauma, including sexual assault and/or family and domestic violence.
  • Ability to provide clinical and line management oversight and guidance to DFVSAS Counsellors.
Requirements
  • Applicable vaccination requirements for a Category A role.
  • Working With Children Check (WWCC).
  • Current AHPRA Registration or Social Work degree and eligibility for the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
  • Valid NSW Drivers Licence.
