About the role
Selectability is seeking a passionate Specialist Support Coordinator to join our team. As a Specialist Support Coordinator, you will play a vital role in assisting recipients with mental health conditions to navigate the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), interpret their individual packages, and navigate the healthcare system. You will work collaboratively with recipients, stakeholders, and other service providers to design, plan, implement, and review recovery plans for recipients with psychosocial disabilities. Your role is to ensure they get the most out of their NDIS plan.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Supporting and empowering recipients to make their own choices about how they want to lead their lives
- Providing time-limited support to recipients over complex matters
- Providing Specialist Support Coordination for complex recipients
- Working with recipients, their families, and carers to identify a broad network of supports that may assist in using their NDIS plan
- Handling complex matters such as restrictive practices, secure units, multidisciplinary teams, and forensic orders
- Preparing specialist progress reports
- Coordinating a variety of services for recipients to support them in living fulfilling and meaningful lives within the community
- Engaging with and managing recipient key stakeholders (including government agencies, community and clinical service providers, and families); ensuring supports and services are leveraged, not duplicated
- Working with recipients to strengthen their ability to coordinate supports and live their best life
About you

- A working knowledge of the NDIS
- Excellent time management skills
- Highly developed person-centred communication skills
- A demonstrated high level of attention to detail with a consistent approach
- The ability to prioritise conflicting priorities as required
- The ability to work under minimal supervision, exercise initiative, and establish objectives and outcomes
- A demonstrated ability to show empathy and compassion
- A proven ability to think critically and approach challenges with innovation
Role requirements
- A relevant bachelor degree (e.g., Social Work, Psychology, Disability, Occupational Therapy)
- Maintain membership to a relevant professional body (e.g., AHPRA, AASW)
- Some travel to selectability sites may be required
- Current nationally recognized first aid and CPR certificates (or ability to obtain within the first month)
- A Positive Notice Working with Children (blue card) (or ability to obtain)
- NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (or ability to obtain)
- Completion of NDIS Worker Orientation Module "Quality, Safety & You" (or ability to obtain)
- A current minimum P1 "C" class Queensland driver's license
- A roadworthy vehicle with comprehensive insurance
