
Postdoctoral Research Fellow

The Research Fellow will be responsible for leading a tissue culture program for development of micropropagation for vanilla, as part of a CRC-P industry linked project.
They will organise and conduct experiments, manage project administration and reporting, coordinate with industry partners and assist in the supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Key responsibilities will include: Research: Establish a research program, collaborate on research projects, seek and manage research funding, publish in reputable journals, utilize best practice research methodologies, and participate in project discussions.
Supervision and Researcher Development: Supervise students, recruit and manage employees, provide performance feedback and training, resolve conflicts, and ensure correct remuneration and benefits.
Citizenship and Service: Develop partnerships, demonstrate leadership through mentoring, engage in internal service roles and committees, perform administrative functions, provide support to colleagues, and uphold university values.

About You Completion or near completion of a Ph D in the area of plant science, ideally with a focus or use of plant tissue culture applications.
An emerging profile in research in the area of plant tissue culture optimization and application.
Evidence of publications in reputed refereed journals and presenting at conferences.
Evidence of contributions towards successfully obtaining external research funding is desired.
Some experience in meaningful internal service roles and contributions towards external activities Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in addition to independently as required.
Evidence of completing work punctuality to achieve milestone requirements of funding.
Desirable Understanding the steps involved in commercial optimisation of tissue culture technology and how research objectives must align to these steps.
An understanding of meristem culture techniques is strongly desired.
Experience with CRISPR/Cas9 and plant transformation technology, along with basic molecular tools including q RTPCR, would be highly desired.
The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia, criminal check, education check.
