We are partnering with a highly profitable global Australian mining company for a Product Strategy Manager based in either Perth or Brisbane.
The Product Strategy Manager (PSM) is a pivotal role that defines, plans, and monitors the execution of all key drivers for a product's success, encompassing both organic and inorganic growth, ultimately shaping the product strategy.
You will be responsible for coordinating inputs into the product roadmap selection process, including the preparation of detailed product development business cases.
This role also involves documenting all associated supporting knowledge, such as the product's vision, target markets, customer and consumer segmentation, competitive landscape, end-to-end offering definition, profit model and pricing, brand objectives, and the execution capabilities required to achieve business objectives.
The PSM collaborates across the group, as well as with clients and relevant industry groups, both locally and internationally, serving as the internal and external evangelist for the product.
Crucially, you will demonstrate strong leadership and stakeholder management skills, along with a keen interest in both technology and business problems.
This includes reporting and presenting to the company's Board of Directors.
Key Responsibilities Continuously analyse global market trends, competitor strategies, and customer needs to inform and advance the product vision and market position.
Disseminate critical external insights to relevant stakeholders.
Design and model the product and service offerings within the mining value chain, including defining the product development roadmap and associated business cases.
Lead the definition and updating of the profit model, pricing structure , and quantify financial impacts.
Define product positioning and messaging in collaboration with marketing and ensure legal alignment for agreements.
Product Development & Release Oversight: Translate product strategies into detailed roadmaps , providing critical business guidance to development teams.
Oversee product release planning and delivery , ensuring alignment across development, marketing, and sales.
Product Promotion: Act as an internal and external evangelist for the product, representing the company at industry events and through thought leadership (e.g., white papers, presentations).
Assist in aligning sales tools to strategy, supporting critical proposals, and conducting Win-Loss analyses to validate strategy.
Budget Process Support: Ensure alignment of key product budget parameters with the overall strategy and business cases.
Engage in domestic and international travel as required and undertake other assigned tasks.
Position Requirements Core Competencies: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong leadership and influencing ability.
Hands-on problem-solving and analytical skills.
Team player with the capacity to challenge themselves.
Experience & Education: At least 3 years management consulting experience at MBB or Top Tier Consulting firm.
Tertiary qualifications in business, economics, engineering, or equivalent experience.
Experience in strategic and product leadership roles, preferably within global technology or Saa S/Software businesses.
Preferred experience in the mining software or mining industry, but a minimum requirement would be an intellectual curiosity for the industry.
