Apply now Job no: 501377 Work type: Full time Location: Hobart, Launceston, Burnie Categories: Information Technology Expert knowledge of student systems and processes to effectively support business areas and functions Drive business process improvement initiatives Full-time, fixed term position till June 2026 based in Hobart, Launceston or Burnie About the opportunity The Business Analyst Team is responsible for supporting the University's core student information systems and the business processes that underpin the student lifecycle.
The Business Analysts work closely with business areas, developing a deep expertise in both the systems and the academic administrative functions they support.
The analysts investigate and resolve issues, identify and workshop opportunities for improvement, prototype and test changes to configuration and monitor developments in future software releases relevant to their portfolio.
What you'll do: Develop and maintain an expert knowledge of current and future student systems and business processes for the student lifecycle portfolio, as well as a solid understanding of links to other portfolio areas.
Develop and maintain documentation for the allocated student lifecycle portfolios as part of the University repository of academic administrative business processes, procedures and work instructions Provide expert advice and guidance to business areas within the student lifecycle portfolio, including investigation and resolution of "Tier 2" issues, advice on business process and use of supporting systems.
Identify opportunities for business process improvements that will leverage current or future functionality available in student systems which will deliver further service delivery benefits to the Student Services and Operations and broader institution.
Engage and consult with a broad range of stakeholders across the institution who lead or are involved in delivery of Student administration services and functions.
Effectively communicate and facilitate discussions with small and large groups of stakeholders to identify opportunities, deliver training and presentations, discuss new processes and negotiate resolution of issues.
Research, prototype and test changes to system functionality, including modification of system configuration options, development of test cases and specification of reports.
Perform restricted or advanced system operations in consult with the student lifecycle portfolio areas, including specialised configuration activities, bulk processing tasks and restricted authorisation activities.
What we're looking for: A degree from a recognised higher education institution with experience as a Business Analyst, or an equivalent level of expertise gained through a combination of experience and/or education/training.
Demonstrated ability to organise, plan and undertake business analysis activities and investigations together with the ability to develop solutions to problems.
Experience in researching, prototyping and testing changes to system functionality, including modification of system configuration options to better support business processes, specification of reports or software changes, and creation of test cases and test plans.
Demonstrated high level written communication skills, including the ability to produce and maintain a range of documentation including business process maps and procedures.
Good level of skills in liaising and negotiating efficiently with stakeholders and staff members across business areas to achieve agreement on consistent processes, practices and supporting systems.
Salary details Appointment to this role will be at HEO 7 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $130,943 comprising base salary within the range of $101,821 to $111,917 plus 17% superannuation.
