About the Role

Are you passionate about process, data accuracy, and solving operational challenges?

Strait Link Logistics is seeking a Pallet Control Team Leader to take ownership of pallet management across our logistics network. Most pallets used by our customers are rented and therefore need to be tracked and returned.

You’ll be standardising and improving pallet tracking processes, assisting the business to report against KPIs, an escalation point for investigating discrepancies and liaising with customers, reviewing and making recommendations on pallet control customer terms and conditions, providing role coverage, and training and educating colleagues across the business in how they can contribute to effective pallet control.

In this role, you’ll indirectly lead a small team responsible for pallet management spread across Tasmania and Melbourne so travel will be required. Ideally the role will be based at Launceston, however, we will consider the role being based in Hobart, Burnie or Melbourne (Webb Dock) at any of our sites in these locations.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

- Responsible for effective pallet control procedures and influencing positive improvements to base processes and systems that support pallet control across the logistics business.
- Driving continuous improvement in pallet management by working with the operations, sales and finance teams and customers to identify and solve repetitive issues related to pallet imbalances.
- Providing training and development in effective pallet control procedures for all roles contributing to pallet control within logistics.
- Provide/support role coverage initiatives for pallet controllers and support Branch operations managers with succession planning for key roles related to pallet management.
- Monitor KPI performance and engage with operational teams on pallet management performance topresent regular reports to management highlighting performance against KPIs, trends, opportunities and threats.
- Support commercial and sales teams by providing pallet management insights to inform customer terms and conditions, quoting and pricing.
- Development and execution of strategies to improve pallet management within Strait Link and contribute to strategies and operational improvements in administration for the logistics business more broadly.
- Other tasks reasonably required from time to time.

Desired Skills and Experience

What we are Looking For:

Knowledge/Experience:

- Background and demonstrated experience in leading teams focussed on process improvement.
- Demonstrated problem-solving root cause analysis capability.
- Intermediate or above proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Experienced in using IT systems such as finance systems and or similar systems to manage information.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- High attention to detail including financial acumen, data analysis and interpretation.
- Experienced in people management with a focus on training and development.
- Demonstrated experience in high level writing capability including procedures, training aids and reports for senior management.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, business, logistics, certification as a business analyst or similar will be well regarded but is not essential.

- Approachable and confident in speaking in front of groups of people.
- Can confidently influence at all levels internally and externally.
- Enjoys working in a fast-paced, collaborative work environment that is complex and continuously changing.

Technical/Professional Skills:

- Background or understanding of logistics will be well regarded but is not essential.
