As we enter an exciting new era expanding into the digital print market, an opportunity has arisen for an Estimator and Designer to join the Opal Specialty Packaging team at our Rocklea, QLD site.
This role offers a chance to expand your design capabilities within a great team and working environment.
You will contribute to the success of Opal by : Designing product packaging and basic graphics for visualisation and concept presentations, as well as products for custom applications.
Supporting the creation of product illustrations, concept sketches, diagrams, design specifications, and technical drawings (die lines).
Evaluating design ideas considering appearance, design-function relationships, serviceability, materials, methods engineering, application, budget, price, production costs, methods of production, market characteristics, and client specifications.
Fulfilling our speed-to-market agenda and driving our digital strategy.
Providing daily quoting support to our sales team.
Participating in the tender process from initial quoting to commercial analysis.
Identifying cost savings opportunities to improve customer margins on new and existing materials.
Serving as the key contact for projects requiring quoting, costing, and customer onboarding.

For this role, we expect you will have: Packaging design and estimating experience.
The ability to articulate and communicate creative ideas via concept sketching or verbal presentations.
A good understanding of 3-dimensional form and space.
Ability to prepare accurate technical specifications (e.g., die lines) for quotation and manufacturing.
Proficiency with CAD programs to create models and renderings.
Ability to build physical models and prototypes to bring concepts to life.
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
