Education Support Officer Horizons College is a non-state, Special Assistance School based in Caboolture that is committed to assisting those young people for whom mainstream education is not meaningful.
The school offers relevant and engaging curriculum, and features small class sizes, daily one-on-one support, flexible learning environments and a positive educational experience for its students.
We are looking for suitably qualified and enthusiastic Education Support Officer to work collaboratively with teachers to provide a high level of classroom support and assistance to students in years 7 to 12, including those with additional learning needs.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES Assisting in providing individual and small-group instruction as directed by the classroom teacher.
Assisting teachers with the development of differentiated learning resources for students as directed.
Implementing a variety of effective strategies to support the literacy and numeracy development of all the students.
Completing other tasks as determined by Head of Curriculum (non-VET) and classroom teachers to assist students and staff.
Supporting students in developing a positive attitude and approach to improving their learning and knowledge and guiding students in managing classroom expectations.
Alerting appropriate staff to any issues and concerns related to the students.
Providing feedback to develop and update student support plans (including IEPs, ESPs) Establishing effective collaborative working relationships with teachers so that, once established, assistance can be delivered with minimal disruption or interruption Ultimately the Education Support Officer is responsible to the Principal, who may vary the above duties from time to time.
ABOUT YOU To thrive in this position, you will demonstrate: qualifications relevant to the position, e.g.
a Certificate III or IV in Education Support previous experience as an Education Support Officer, ideally supporting secondary students a current Working with Children Check a passion for working with young people an understanding of how young people of different ages learn, including those with additional learning needs excellent interpersonal and communication skills high level organisational and planning skills proficient information and communication technology skills an ability to show initiative and work as a team member INTERESTED?
