Fire Protection Association Australia (FPA Australia) is the national peak body for fire safety and the fire protection industry.

We are a not-for-profit and registered charity, representing businesses and individuals who provide, use, or support fire protection services and products.

Operating within FPA Australia, and in partnership with the Department of Climate Change, Energy, Environment and Water (DCCEEW), is the Fire Protection Industry Board (FPIB).

The FPIB is dedicated to reducing harmful gas emissions in the fire protection industry and protecting the ozone layer.

Its work includes licensing technicians and companies, monitoring compliance, promoting best practice, delivering education and training, and engaging with stakeholders across the sector.

Due to internal career progression, we're looking for a Communications Coordinator to join the FPIB team.

In this role, you'll help shape how we engage with industry, create meaningful content, and promote environmental best practice.

You'll be supported by a collaborative team and have the chance to make a real difference.

Responsibilities Create and coordinate engaging content (social media, newsletters, website)Support communication campaigns and education projects Contribute to reports, webinars, and promotional materials Assist with compliance and stakeholder engagement programs Provide occasional admin and editorial support to the team Selection Criteria Qualification (or working towards) in communications, marketing, journalism, or science communication — or relevant experience1–2 years' experience in a communications role (work, internship, volunteer, or uni projects)Strong writing, editing, and organisational skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Confident with Microsoft Office suite and Mail Chimp; Word Press experience advantageous Motivated, proactive, and detail-focused team player Experience working with government or not-for-profit organisations an advantage What we offer Part-time hours – 18 hours per week (family-friendly, school hours: 9am–3pm)Hybrid flexibility – two days in the office, one day from home A fixed-term contract until 31 October 2026 with the possibility of extension The chance to make a difference in protecting the environment while supporting a valued industry Immediate start for the right candidate.
