Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
The Kimberley Schools Project (the Project) is a collaborative partnership between the Department of Education, Catholic Education Western Australia, the Association of Independent Schools Western Australia and the Department of Regional Development and Primary Industries.
The Project is designed to accelerate and intensify existing strategies to address low education outcomes in the Kimberley and underpins broader economic and social development in the region.
The Project has four key components (pillars): Targeted Teaching – evidence-based teaching strategies, quality materials and frequent measurement of achievement.
Early Years - community initiatives that build on and improve existing services and engage families as first teachers through the Kindi Link initiative.
Regular Attendance – community partnerships to deliver strategies that respond to drivers of non-attendance.
Community Engagement – development with the community of extended learning programs and related initiatives.
Support includes coaching and advice for school leaders and teachers around building and sustaining positive school-community partnerships This pool of Program Coordinators seeks to fill roles primarily addressing the first pillar of Targeted Teaching.
Roles will be based in either Broome, Kununurra or Fitzroy Crossing.
The Role Suitable applicants will demonstrate exemplary teaching practice and a deep understanding of explicit instruction practices.
The Project has been successful in building a low variation model of instruction across Kimberley schools since 2018.
Suitable applicants will be responsible for modelling effective instruction, primarily in Kindergarten to Year 2, but may also be required to support and coach teachers in Years 3-10.
An understanding of the importance of data to drive practice and how to support teachers to analyse and unpack data sets would be advantageous.
The Program Coordinator (Targeted Teaching) will provide instructional coaching and as such the suitable applicant should have a high level of interpersonal skills and requires the ability to form trusting relationships with teachers from various backgrounds and experience.
As a member of the Project team, you will be working with high performing colleagues in a positive and supportive environment.
We are seeking applicants with an outstanding work ethic, a desire to learn and a commitment for high individual and team performance.
A willingness to assist in the design and delivery of Professional Learning is also desirable.
Applicants do not necessarily require expertise across all 4 pillars but will need to demonstrate their understanding of how all 4 pillars interrelate and how their particular skillset will add value to the Project.
The role will involve travel to remote school communities.
