Direct message the job poster from Steven Douglas The Corporate Controller is responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial reporting activities across the organization, with a strong focus on manufacturing operations.
This includes managing cost accounting, inventory controls, plant financial performance, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and external regulatory requirements.
The Controller will play a key role in driving financial strategy, improving processes, and supporting operational efficiency in a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities: Oversee preparation of timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal reporting requirements.
Manage internal and external audit processes.
Develop and enforce internal controls to maximize protection of company assets and ensure accuracy of financial records.
Cost Accounting & Manufacturing Operations Lead cost accounting efforts including standard costing, variance analysis, and cost of goods sold (COGS) reporting.
Monitor and analyze manufacturing performance and plant financial KPIs (e.g., labor efficiency, material yield, overhead absorption).
Collaborate with plant managers to understand operational challenges and financial impacts.
Oversee inventory valuation, cycle counts, and ensure alignment between physical and financial inventory records.
Budgeting, Forecasting, and Analysis Lead annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes.
Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic decisions and operational improvements.
Track and report on capital expenditures and return on investment (ROI) for manufacturing initiatives.
Leadership & Team Management Manage and develop a team of accountants and financial analysts across multiple locations or manufacturing sites.
Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement within the finance team.
Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, procurement, engineering, and supply chain teams.
Systems & Process Improvement Evaluate and improve financial systems and reporting tools (e.g., ERP systems like SAP, Oracle, or JD Edwards).
Streamline and automate processes to enhance efficiency and reduce reporting cycles.
Lead finance-side implementation and integration of new manufacturing technologies or expansions.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA strongly preferred.
8–12 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with at least 5 years in a manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge of US GAAP, cost accounting principles, and inventory accounting.
Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills; knowledge of manufacturing ERP modules is a plus.
Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing finance teams.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
