Join to apply for the Operations Stream Architect role at ABB.
In this role, you will develop technology, software, products, and solutions using advanced technical skills, with a focus on software architecture within the Operations domain for core process control.
You will serve as the primary point of contact within Research and Development (R&D) for product or technology-specific design in the PCP Operations stream.
You will also support strategic corporate technology management and future product/software/solution architecture.
Typical systems include HMIs, Historians, Batch systems, and similar technologies.
The work model for this role is onsite.
This position supports the global Process Automation business within the Process Control Platform Division, including contributions to current-generation control system platforms.
You Will Be Mainly Accountable For Expanding competence portfolio beyond your specialization, integrating developments in related technologies, tools, and methodologies.
Managing major technology/engineering projects and product platforms essential to the organization.
Addressing potential quality issues in R&D projects with strategic solutions.
Developing and protecting Intellectual Property (IP) within your area, understanding IP strategies and competitors' patents.
Aligning with system architects on the Automation Vision and defining long-term strategies for future Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
Designing and supporting current-generation Operations platforms like Symphony Plus, System 800x A, Freelance, focusing on their evolution.
Managing the architectural backlog, evaluating platform designs, and prioritizing based on business value and feasibility.
Collaborating with Product Management to align requirements with future system visions.
Leading a team of Operations platform architects, communicating architecture decisions, and coordinating activities.
Qualifications For The Role Advanced knowledge of software architecture styles, including microservices, micro frontends, REST, etc., with experience in designing scalable, asynchronous systems.10–15 years of experience in software development, proficient in.
NET Core, ASP.
NET, Web API, web technologies, and OPC UA.
Experience with Angular or React.
Deep understanding of Linux internals and system-level performance optimization.
Proficiency with Docker, Podman, and container security practices.
Knowledge of container orchestration, cluster management, and Kubernetes solutions.
Ability to design secure, scalable platform applications for Operations runtime systems.
Experience mentoring, with strong documentation and communication skills.
Awareness of technical risk management, IP protection, and fostering innovation.
Domain knowledge in Industrial Automation, especially ABB DCS systems.
