The Office of Local Government (OLG) is a small, yet diverse agency of professionals invested in creating healthy and prosperous communities across NSW.

The role As the Manager Sector Policy & Frameworks , you'll play a central role in shaping the future of local government in NSW.
This position leads the development and delivery of key policy and legislative initiatives.
You'll guide a team of policy professionals, oversee complex policy and regulatory reforms and programs, and ensure that strategic goals are met with clarity, precision, and impact.
From managing budgets and risks to aligning outcomes with government priorities, your leadership will help strengthen the sector's regulatory and operational foundations.
The role calls for someone who thrives in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment where priorities shift quickly and projects are deeply interconnected.
You'll be the link between legislative and policy development, program delivery, and stakeholder engagement—bringing together voices from across government, industry, and the community.
Whether it's developing legislation, advising senior executives and the Minister's Office, or navigating competing deadlines, you'll need to think strategically, act decisively, and foster a culture of collaboration and innovation across the policy space.

Extensive track record of leading the delivery of strategic initiatives or complex programs.
Experience in drafting Cabinet Submissions, developing legislation and managing the passage of legislation through Parliament highly regarded Tertiary qualifications or equivalent, relevant professional experience in government administration, policy, legislative development or a related field.

Strong problem-solving abilities to navigate complex challenges and adapt to evolving situations.
Outstanding stakeholder engagement skills, fostering strong relationships and ensuring alignment with diverse stakeholders to achieve outcomes.
Capable of driving outcomes while effectively involving stakeholders throughout the process, fostering collaboration and buy-in Expertise in legislative development, including drafting Cabinet Submissions and managing the passage of legislation through Parliament with precision and strategic foresight.
Advanced policy analysis and strategic thinking, enabling the design and delivery of frameworks that align with government priorities and sector needs.
Exceptional risk and program management skills, ensuring complex initiatives are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard.
