This is a full-time, fixed-term position to 30 June 2026 with extension expected subject to additional funding.
The role provides a welcoming first point of contact for young people and their friends, family and carers seeking support from headspace Oran Park.
The purpose is to undertake assessments and triage appropriate referrals, assess the mental health and psycho-social support needs of young people referred to headspace and, in conjunction with the headspace Oran Park team, coordinate their transition to appropriate support and treatment streams within and external to headspace in accordance with clinical need.
The position also provides early intervention counselling and support services to young people aged 12-25 who have or may be at risk of developing a mental health and/or substance use disorder or have economic and social recovery needs.
We Are Looking For Someone With Qualifications in Social Work, Mental Health Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Counselling, Psychology, or other relevant field as well as eligibility for registration with the appropriate professional organisation/authority as required.
Experience working within a multidisciplinary team environment, providing counselling services to young people.
Demonstrated understanding of the health and wellbeing needs of young people with mental health and/or substance use problems including an ability to engage and communicate effectively with young people.
Demonstrated ability to undertake assessment and screening of young people and their family to determine care needs and assist to access necessary services.
