Goodwin includes six retirement villages comprising 832 retirement living apartments and villas and 64 assisted living apartments, four residential care facilities with more than 400 aged care beds, and over 1,000 home care and day club clients.
Goodwin has almost 800 employees and volunteers.
Goodwin is a not-for-profit organisation structured as a company limited by guarantee and owned by its members, primarily residents.
Goodwin is a registered charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) and is completely independent, with no affiliation to any other business, organisation, property developer, political or religious body.
The positions Goodwin is governed by a board of nine non-executive directors, including the Chair.
This is a skills-based board with an experienced and diverse membership, engaged in driving the strategicdirection for Goodwin members.
As part of planned board renewal, Goodwin is seeking to appoint two independent, non-executive directors.
These director roles will be put forward to members for election at the November 2025 AGM.
Key selection criteria The board is seeking to appoint two independent, non-executive directors who bring demonstrated skills and experience in one or more of the following areas: Skillset 1: Aged care, healthcare and clinical governance including: Sector experience (aged care, health, disability or community services)Knowledge of clinical governance frameworks and quality & safety oversight Understanding of regulatory and policy environment.
Skillset 2: Finance and audit including: Financial stewardship in similar sectors Expertise in audit, risk oversight and strategic financial planning Ability to assess financial performance and sustainability.
Experience and interest in IT / technology to support clinical governance and innovation in care delivery or to oversee technology strategy, information (including privacy) and cyber security management and governance will be viewed favourably.
An understanding of the not-for-profit sector, federal government funding and models of care with recent experience in a comparable sized business to Goodwin is highly desirable.
Having directors based in the geographic areas serviced by the company is desirable.
On this basis, the board is seeking candidates based in the ACT, Batemans Bay and NSW surrounding areas.
Directors are remunerated by way of a base fee with additional loadings for committee Chairs.
