About the role We are now accepting applications for a Fleet Engineer to join the team on permanent ongoing basis.
While our preference is for candidates based in Port Macquarie, Tamworth, or Coffs Harbour, we are open to considering applicants across Essential Energy's operational footprint.
The Fleet Engineer will be responsible for the development and coordination of defined projects and improvements incorporating design, planning, execution and technical evaluations across a range of fleet assets.
The role will help support maintenance operations and assist management in achieving business objectives.
About you You are achievement oriented, adapt to change and thrive on innovation.
You can comfortably work as part of a team or independently on individual projects.
With challenges you apply outside of the box thinking to support continuous improvement and successful outcomes for the team and the business.
You're a skilled and experienced engineer who brings a deep understanding of mechanical engineering principles and statutory requirements, and you know how to apply them in real-world fleet management scenarios.
You preferably have a solid background in asset-intensive industries like utilities, mining, infrastructure, oil & gas, or transport.
You're confident in handling both planned and unexpected technical challenges, using your analytical mindset to find practical solutions.
You understand the bigger picture—budgets, strategy, and contingency planning—and you're comfortable navigating complex systems and processes.
You're flexible, self-motivated, and highly organised, with strong time management and a keen eye for detail.
You're also tech-savvy, with solid skills in relevant business systems and computer operations.
Required Qualifications Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) to meet professional membership requirements of Engineers Australia.
Drivers license.
