Join to apply for the Design Manager role at NSW Department of Communities and Justice1 day ago Be among the first 25 applicants Join to apply for the Design Manager role at NSW Department of Communities and Justice Location: Parramatta (hybrid office & WFH)Employment type: Temporary part time up till August 2026 (11 Months, 14 hours per week)Salary: Clerk Grade 9/10, $129,464 to $142,665 pa, plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading Your role As a Design Manager within Planning and Investment Team within Infrastructure and Assets, you will lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of complex DCJ Infrastructure projects, providing design subject matter expertise (SME) to achieve project outcomes that align with organisational objectives.
What You'll Do The Infrastructure Design and Planning team is responsible for developing design standards that ensure consistency across DCJ's assets.
They also serve as subject matter experts on projects aimed at enhancing these assets, which may include frontline service centres, workplace offices, courts, and out-of-home care facilities.
This part-time role will support the development of design standards - documented in REVIT and contribute to project work as needed.
Responsibilities may include site visits, developing concepts and test fits aligned with our standards, and providing expert advice across various projects.
The successful candidate will be expected to work independently, offer strategic direction, and support junior staff with their design expertise Our team is a dynamic mix of interior designers and architects, most of whom bring valuable experience from the private sector.
We're a group of 12, working collaboratively and coming into the office part-time.

What We're Looking For Our ideal candidate is an experienced interior designer or architect with 5 to 10 years of expertise in workplace design and/or court projects.
Proficiency in Revit is essential, along with a strong understanding of all relevant Australian Standards and the Building Code of Australia (BCA).
