With a diverse portfolio of products, brandsandcategories, manufacturing plants across the East Coastandheadquartered in South Yarra, Victoria.OVERVIEW OF THE ROLEThis role is responsible for providing legal adviceandsupport across a broad range ofcommercial, corporate, compliance,andemployment matters.
This role is suitable for a junior General Counseland/or an experience Senior Legal Counsel looking for that step up into their first "head of" roleReporting to thenow published General Manager, Legal & Corporate Affairs, you'll act as a key advisor to the business, managing high-level legal issuesandleading key areas such as privacy, modern slavery, employmentandindustrial relations, food safety, marketingandpackaging approvals,andintellectual property.You'll also take ownership of legal governance frameworks, drive the developmentanddelivery of legal training,andoversee internal processes such as contract managementandlegal clinics.This role involves managing external legal providersandlegal tech platforms, with a focus on minimising legal spendandoptimising compliance systems.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESProvide timely, pragmatic,andsolutions-focused legal advice acrosscommercial, corporate, compliance,andemployment matters.
Leadandmanage a broad range ofcommercialcontractsandlegal risk areas, including employment, food safety, privacy,andintellectual property.
Act as a key advisor on people, safety,andindustrial relations matters, including disputesandworkers' compensation claims.
Oversee governanceandcompliance programs, including legal onboarding, internal training,andrisk management initiatives.Manage external legal providersandplatforms to drive efficiencyandinnovation in legal service delivery.
Support internal stakeholders with day-to-day legal advice, marketing approvals,andregulatory queries.
Act as Privacy Officerandcontribute to the developmentandrollout of legal trainingandcompliance frameworks.
Monitor legislative changesandprovide advice to ensure business alignment.
ABOUT YOUYou are an Australian-qualified lawyer with strong experience in corporateandcommerciallaw, ideally gained in or advising the FMCG, manufacturing, or broadercommercialsector.To succeed in this role, you'll be a change agent who loves to createandthink big.

You must be willing to be an enabler, adviserandpartner who is prepared to "get their hands dirty"You will have:A minimum of 6-10years' post-qualification experience, including in-house legal leadership.
Strong corporate,commercial,andregulatory law expertise.
Experience in the FMCG or manufacturing sectors (highly regarded).
Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including confidence working with regulators, customers, suppliers,andthe executive team.
Demonstrated success in developing governance frameworksandleading compliance initiatives.
A collaborativeandempowering leadership style, with experience mentoring legal teamsandinfluencing cross-functional stakeholders.
Proficiency in managing both internalandexternal legal counselandservice providers Strong verbalandwritten communication skills.Hands-on experience designinganddelivering organisation-wide compliance programsandtraining initiatives.
