The Human Resources team in Australia is a high performing and collaborative team made up of HR generalists, payroll, recruitment, learning and D&I specialists, and we are looking to add someone with solid payroll and HR reporting experience to its capability.
Purpose of your role This job description provides an overview of the core responsibilities for an employee in the role of Payroll Manager for the Australian offices.
Responsibility for the day-to-day payroll function, ensuring that all salary payments are processed accurately and completely for all employees across Australia, as well as fulfilling duties associated with HR reporting and data analytics.
Reporting to HR Manager Australia.
Key responsibilities and objectives Processing end-to-end monthly payroll for salaried and casual employees Preparation of all manual ad hoc pay runs Set up of new starters Managing and updating employee records Calculation and processing of termination payments Providing excellent customer service in answering all payroll queries Assisting Finance and HR teams in the provision of payroll data, reports, etc.
as required Preparing reports, monthly reconciliations and general ledger related activities.
HR Reporting Develop and maintain HR metrics for the firm across remuneration, performance & talent, including Mercer data submissions Assist with the firm's annual WGEA remuneration reporting and conduct gender pay gap analyses Assist in the annual remuneration review process, prepare firm wide data, provide analysis.
Essential skills and experience Experience in a payroll function, operating and running payrolls autonomously Excellent knowledge and understanding of termination and redundancy calculations and payments Ability to interpret and analyse Awards including the Legal Services Award Reporting and Analysis - compilation of routine reporting and analytical schedules as well as preparing or validating input data Preparation of data metrics and commentary to meet business needs Professional services experience (preferred but not essential)Ability to multi-task, work well under pressure and meet deadlines Ability to communicate professionally and effectively at all levels, both in person and via telephone/ email Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (essential)Demonstrate initiative, with the ability to anticipate needs and design and deliver process improvements Experience with payroll systems.
