Sydney or Melbourne Salary range: $94,198 - $112,011 depending on experience (plus 15.4% superannuation) Permanent position Applications close at 11:59 pm AEST, Sunday, 31 August 2025 The Team The Markets Group manages the end-to-end process for regulating markets, including supervision, triage, investigation, and enforcement.
Markets Enforcement, part of the Markets Group, is responsible for taking enforcement actions that impact market integrity, such as issues related to disclosure, insider trading, market manipulation, licensing, and misconduct by retail OTC issuers.
As part of the Markets Enforcement team, you will contribute to enforcement outcomes by assessing referrals, conducting investigations, liaising with stakeholders, interviewing witnesses, reviewing evidence, and preparing briefs for ASIC delegates, counsel, or the CDPP for administrative, civil, or criminal proceedings.
The Role As a Lawyer, you will support and conduct investigations and related litigation to achieve enforcement outcomes, including: Project managing investigations of suspected misconduct in areas regulated by ASIC.
Conducting investigative tasks, including analyzing large electronic data sets, drafting and serving notices, and collecting documents.
Interviewing witnesses and obtaining information.
Identifying legal issues and providing legal advice during investigations, including evidence requirements and statutory powers.
Assisting with civil litigation in the Federal Court, briefing Counsel.
Preparing briefs of evidence for the CDPP and assisting with criminal prosecutions.
Compiling administrative briefs for ASIC delegates.
About You A relevant tertiary qualification.
Strong investigative and analytical skills with experience managing complex investigations.
Ability to analyze large data sets and evidence, with a drive to understand issues and take appropriate action.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for presenting complex information.
Experience building relationships with stakeholders and professional networks.
Proficiency with digital applications for investigations and research.
Knowledge of the Corporations Act, ASIC Act, and related legislation is desirable.
