1. Operate as a strategic partner to deliver technical, operational and strategic human resource
advice across a range of areas such as workforce planning, performance management, talent

3. Identify and deliver human resources initiatives in partnership with the Executive Manager

5. Maintain a detailed knowledge of relevant human resource legislation and policy and provide

addition to conducting workplace investigations in accordance with the Local Government (State)
Award.
6. Participate in the development, implementation and review of human resources policies and

learning and mentor team members to build technical expertise and best practice.

KEY CHALLENGES
1. Establishing, fostering and maintaining a strong focussed workforce culture in the delivery of
Human Resource services, programs and initiatives which meet Council and Local Government
legislation and policy.
2. Developing an understanding and acceptance by managers and staff within Council of their HR
accountabilities. Managing competing prioritise particularly balancing the day to day operational
and more strategic demands of the role within a diverse and complex organisation.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
1. Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or related field and a minimum of five (5) years'
experience in a Human Resources role in a diverse, fast paced environment.
2. Demonstrated ability to use initiative and act independently in a team environment, to ensure
excellence in customer service, best practice and the achievement of outcomes.
3. Strong communication and negotiation skills with a proven ability to work collaboratively
with relevant stakeholders to determine the best practice solutions to achieve positive outcomes.
4. Demonstrated high level analytical, organisational and time management skills to meet
defined deadlines.
5. Management of workforce matters in accordance with relevant legislation, regulations, policy
and procedures, including innovative approaches to problem diagnosis, resolution and
process improvement.
6. Demonstrated experience in conducting workplace investigations.
7. Experience in the use and maintenance of Human Resource Information Systems in addition to
possessing advanced computer skills.
8. Possess and maintain a current NSW Driver's Licence.
