Support for Learning

The Wellbeing Team is a multi-disciplinary team providing direct services to students through psychological services and wellbeing support and works with academic staff on curricular and co-curricular initiatives to promote student wellbeing. Extra-curricular wellness initiatives include Mental Health First Aid, By-Stander Awareness, coordination of inclusivity programs, and other programs to support the psychological and physical safety of UniSQ students.

We're seeking an accomplished health professional to lead our Wellness Team and oversee the Student Counselling Team, Wellbeing Team and Mental Health Nurse. In this role you will innovate and drive mental health and wellbeing activities across the University to ensure a safe and healthy student community.

What you'll do

  • Lead a geographically dispersed team of human services professionals (including psychologists, social workers and wellness /welfare advisors) and work with key stakeholders to develop and implement a suite of psychoeducational, experiential, welfare and advisory services and programs.
  • Utilise your significant leadership skills, industry knowledge and understanding of trends in psychoeducation in higher education to build, deliver and lead the delivery of successful wellbeing education programs in and alongside curriculum while overseeing the delivery of a brief therapy model of counselling, wellbeing and advisory services within a higher education context.
  • Introduce contemporary and innovative approaches to supporting the wellbeing of students at UniSQ.
  • Implement best practice approaches leading the strategic development and implementation of proactive wellness initiatives within a higher education context.

What will help you succeed

  • Postgraduate qualifications in clinical or educational psychology, social work, human or community services, counselling or mental health, and extensive experience in the profession.
  • Registration or accreditation with a relevant industry body that allows you to provide clinical supervision to the professionals in the Wellness team.
  • Excellent people management skills and experience in developing, coaching and motivating staff to foster a positive team culture.
  • Experience in overseeing the strategic development and management of counselling/clinical services, with expertise in case management and clinical supervision in a brief intervention delivery model.
  • Experience in developing wellbeing programs within and alongside curriculum in a higher education context.
