Coulson Aviation Australia is a branch of a global aerial firefighting enterprise, Coulson Aviation, that offers aircraft and experienced team members to Australian States and Emergency Service Organizations. The company operates a fleet of large aerial firefighting assets, which include fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft such as Boeing 737 FIRELINERSTM, C-130 Hercules fire bombers, CH47D Chinooks, UH60 Blackhawks, and Sikorsky helicopters for rapid aerial fire suppression missions.

Coulson Aviation Australia is responsible for managing New South Wales Rural Fire Service-owned aircraft, covering maintenance, fleet support systems, management, and operational personnel.

What We're Seeking:

We are in search of a Finance Manager with a solid financial and accounting background, excellent business judgment, and strong communication skills. The ideal candidate should possess exceptional quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. The Finance Manager will be engaged in various financial activities like budgeting, forecasting, constructing financial models, aiding in financial planning, conducting research and analysis, preparing reports, and contributing to close processes. This role will collaborate closely with Accounts Receivables, Accounts Payable, and Payroll teams in Canada or Australia.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to annual budget preparation and periodic forecast updates
  • Prepare monthly management reports analyzing financial performance and key drivers, investigating variances and reconciling accounts
  • Handle taxation tasks including BAS, GST, FBT, and PAYG returns
  • Ensure implementation of robust internal controls and accounting principles
  • Develop customer profitability analysis and maintain margin reporting
  • Enhance systems and processes, and create process manuals
  • Assist in financial reporting processes and provide insightful commentary to senior management
  • Drive efficient projects, develop metrics, and analyze results
  • Recommend process improvements through automation and collaborate across functions
  • Supervise Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Payroll activities
  • Perform other assigned duties

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, or similar field
  • MBA or professional accounting designation preferred
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience
  • Preferably, experience in aviation
  • Proven ability to construct and manage financial models
  • Familiarity with ADP or other payroll software is an advantage
  • Proficiency in forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis
  • Ability to manage tight deadlines and prioritize workload efficiently
  • Advanced skills in MS Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
  • Aptitude for business planning and adapting to changes in finance, accounting, and regulations

The salary range for this role is $150,000 to $175,000, depending on experience.
