_ What is a Unit Leader - Engagement at Hume City Council?_


The Unit Leader of Engagement at Hume provides sound strategically leadership to the Customer Service, Marketing, Administration and Swim School areas of Hume's key Leisure Centre locations.

These include SPLASH Aqua Park and Leisure Centre, Broadmeadows Leisure and Aquatic Centre and Sunbury Leisure and Aquatic Centre. This role forms a key part of the leisure service provided to the Hume community.

The Unit Leader of Engagement will be responsible for ensuring all key performance objectives are achieved and financial targets are met for the centres under their supervision.


_ You will thrive within this multi-faceted role as you _

  • Lead a positive, inclusive culture that values and develops people, promotes high performance and is customer focused.
  • Identify service gaps, service development opportunities, community leisure needs and identify short and long term strategies to address them.
  • In conjunction with the Group Manager Hume Leisure, develop and implement key business strategies and business models to increase participation in aquatic and leisure activities.
  • Communicate and implement people management strategies for the continual improvement in service delivery and professional development of all staff.

What's needed
You will also be a clear communicator, have a passion for helping people succeed and building relationships
through trust and respect. You need to be approachable, self-motivated, patient, highly organised and enjoy
achieving results.

  • Tertiary qualifications either in leisure, recreation, facility management or a businessrelated discipline with least five years relevant experience, or lesser qualifications with intensive specialist experience in a senior role in leisure, recreation or facility management.
  • Extensive experience in service delivery and sound financial management skills including budget development, financial analysis and development and implementation of business plans for leisure centres.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing large number of employees, and implementation of people management strategies for the continual improvement of service delivery and professional development of all staff.
