About the Role

This is a Permanent Part Time position at 0.5 FTE/30.4 hours per fortnight within the Stepped Care Allied Health Service.

As part of the Developmental Intake team, you will be responsible for triaging all developmental referrals received by the hospital. You will utilise a variety of triage tools including a developmental eligibility matrix, telephone screening interviews with families, team case conferences and where necessary, face to face appointments with families. You will be an innovative thinker with the ability to work closely with internal RCH departments and community developmental care teams to build strong working relationships to improve access to developmental care for families.

Classification for this position will range from VF6 – VF9 (Occupational Therapy); VB1 – VB4 (Physiotherapy); VW1 – VW4 (Speech Pathology); PK1 – PK4 (Psychologists).

What you'll achieve:

  • Provide excellent clinical care through skills in referral intake, triage, assessment, allocation, service knowledge and coordination of developmental services required
  • In consultation with senior team members, identify the optimal pathway for children at risk of developmental delay and ensure timely access to appropriate internal and/or external services
  • Provide high quality, accurate and timely documentation of all encounters with families and community health providers in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
  • Build strong collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders and demonstrate effective teamwork skills

Your skills and experience:

  • Experience of working collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team context
  • Demonstrated skills in the assessment and provision of services to children with developmental disability/delay
  • Excellent professional, interpersonal, interaction and self-reflection skills to enable effective work with people of different personalities and backgrounds
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated flexibility and ability to quickly adapt in an environment of change.
