The Manager Forecasting plays a critical role in directing the areas of focus for the operations in order to mitigate value chain risk and unlock opportunities for value creation in the short term.

This is a great opportunity to have an impact on every part of the Rio Tinto's value chain while growing your career within a global mining company.

  • Lead a team of highly capable, experienced supply chain professionals and create an inclusive, diverse, and psychologically safe environment for them to thrive
  • Work collaboratively and effectively with senior stakeholders across the business to develop an integrated view of the RTIO supply forecast and alignment against the key areas of focus to ensure the forecast is delivered
  • Develop a realistic view of production capacities for all assets across the integrated system which is then utilised to provide the business with an accurate forecast of future performance
  • Drive best practice forecasting solutions that enable trade-off decisions across the value chain, including embedding Sales & Operational Planning
  • Identify and ensure delivery of co-commitments required to deliver the forecast and to mitigate any risks or unlock opportunities
  • Support reconciliation of production performance and associated root causes of deviations and improvement opportunities
  • Embed a continuous improvement mindset ensuring that learnings are embedded from one forecasting cycle to this next and support the development of systems that improve business value and efficiency
Guided by our values and behaviours, you are empowered to challenge the status quo and improve our business while putting the safety and wellbeing of the wider team at the centre of everything we do. We offer performance-focused remuneration and a wide range of benefits to reward your contribution.

We are an open, connected global team that includes some of the industry's best and brightest minds. We offer competitive, performance-focused remuneration and a wide range of benefits to reward your contribution. With a global reach, the opportunities to develop and grow your career are broad and exciting.

What you'll bring
  • Demonstrated experience across the iron ore supply chain
  • An understanding of value chain optimisation and system thinking, including trade off analysis
  • Commercial acumen
  • A proactive, continuous improvement mindset
  • Strong collaboration skills and a demonstrated ability to bring multiple stakeholders with competiting interests together to deliver an outcome
  • Ability to communicate effectively and impactfully to senior leaders
  • Tertiary level qualifications in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Marine, or transferable & complementary related field
  • Although not essential, it would be advantageous if you had exposure to data analytics packages and/or optimisation platforms
Where you'll be working

This role will be primarily based at our Perth Operations Centre premises, however there will be a requirement to be located at our Central Park Office for various meetings and engagements with stakeholders. Additionally, occasional local and international travel may be required.

What we offer
  • Be recognised for your contribution, your thinking and your hard work, and go home knowing you've helped the world progress
  • A work environment where safety is always the number one priority
  • A permanent position working directly for Rio Tinto
  • Full relocation provided to Western Australia from elsewhere in Australia
  • A competitive base salary reflective of your skills and experience with annual incentive bonus
  • Comprehensive medical benefits including subsidised private health insurance for employees and immediate family

  • Exclusive employee discounts including hotel stays, banking, accommodation, cars, retail and more
We are committed to elevating Indigenous voices and increasing cultural knowledge in our business. Diversity of skills, life experiences and perspectives within our team enhances our way of working and our ability to achieve success together. To help you on your journey with us, you'll also have access to:
