About the role


Our client, a government client, currently seeks a Human Resources Officer to join them on a 6 months contract based in Melbourne CBD.

As the Human Resources Officer, you will provide responsive advice to staff on a range of HR-related issues in line with policy and procedural requirements.


You will be responsible for collecting, maintaining and managing all employee data and work closely with the entire team to ensure it is accurate and provides value.

The role also provides project support across key streams such as recruitment and onboarding, people practices and workforce planning.

Responsibilities and duties

Key tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • coordinating the administrative processes for the recruitment function; including advertisement of job vacancies, scheduling interviews and support hiring managers through the recruitment process
- coordinating the onboarding and induction training for new starters
- coordinating the off-boarding process for employees exiting the organisation
- administering people and culture related documentation and correspondence including, but not limited to; employment contracts, probation reports, correspondence and other people and culture related documentation
- providing accurate and timely advice to both internal and external stakeholders on a range of people and culture queries and escalate matters as required
- providing general project support to the people and culture team

Key Selection Criteria

  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks and to be flexible and accommodating with changing priorities
  • Capacity to work with mínimal direction, determine own priorities and show initiative
  • Welldeveloped oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience using working with Microsoft Office Suite, record keeping systems and/or HR information systems i.e. SuccessFactors and/or SAP HR
  • Ability to work in a confidential and sensitive environment where discretion must be exercised at all times.

Qualifications

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in HR or studying towards HR related qualification.
  • Experience within government would be desirable, but not mandatory.
