Heading towards the 2024 Paris Olympics & Paralympics, and the 2032 Brisbane Olympics & Paralympics, it is an exciting time to join our Growth and Development Team (G&D), we are currently seeking to recruit a Disability and Inclusion Programs Coordinator (Fixed Term Contract - 30th June 2026).

About the Role

The Disability Inclusion Programs Coordinator is an exciting new role, responsible for the administration and coordination of a suite of AA's national initiatives aimed to facilitate increased opportunities for people with a disability, particularly children, to participate in athletics.

If you are passionate about diversity and inclusion, and have experience in education, management/project management along with an understanding of the range of disabilities, and the barriers of participation for children with a disability and their families within a leading National Sporting Organisation-keep reading

Your core duties will include;

  • Lead the investigation, design, and implementation of athletics participation opportunities for children with disabilities.
  • Work within the G&D Team, Member Associations, and third parties to deliver participation opportunities for children with a disability, including via Next Athletics and traditional track and field and cross country.
  • Develop and deploy education and resources to assist clubs, Member Associations, and volunteers to include participants with a disability.

What we are looking for;

You will have a deep understanding of the value of sport and demonstrated understanding of the barriers to participation for children with a disability and their families. A key skill will be your ability to build stakeholder relationships and positive collaboration with Member Associations, Disability Sporting Organisation partners, disability service providers and suppliers, classifiers, schools, teachers, coaches, clubs, parents, and contractors.

Ideally you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in education, management, project management or other related field.
  • Demonstrated understanding of a range of disabilities, particularly autism.
  • Experience in developing and coordinating programs and initiatives for children with a disability that address barriers to entry and ongoing involvement, preferably in a sporting context.
  • Demonstrated project management, coordination, and planning skills, with a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • A keen commitment to clean sport and abiding by AA's National Integrity Framework suite of policies including the Australian National Anti-doping Policy, Safeguarding Children and Young Persons Policy, and Code of Conduct.
  • Hold a current police and working with children check or the ability to obtain prior to the commencement of employment.
