About the role:

This role is responsible for the provision of engineering expertise as well as scoping, design, and estimating of distribution, sub-transmission and station projects. This position is responsible for minor survey works and asset recording and for the implementation of appropriate policies and procedures with regard s to distribution and sub-transmission assets.

What you'll deliver:


• Provide effective engineering design and advice in relation to the design of underground lines, overhead lines and substations, to agreed standards, and in accordance with the relevant technical manuals, OH&S Act, 'Safety in Design' guidelines and customer requirements.

• Verify designs produced by others in accordance with agreed standards, 'Safety in Design' guidelines and company requirements.

• Assist with the development of design standards & policy in accordance with organisational, regulatory, and statutory requirements.

• Apply drafting techniques to produce substation, overhead and underground distribution and sub transmission system project plans

• Provide effective design management to deliver projects of medium complexity within agreed time frames, quality and cost constraints

• Provide technical expertise and mentoring to design personnel in elements of Design and Design management.

• Monitor, review and reconcile time, costs and quality of network designs and ensure unproductive time is maintained at a minimum and all hours worked for are charged accordingly in a timely manner.

• Maintain a high level of knowledge relating to GIS, AutoCAD applications and/or other design and asset recording drafting systems to meet customer requirements.

To succeed in the role, you'll have:


• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.

• Demonstrated work experience in distribution design projects.

• Possess at least one of the following registrations:
- National Engineering Registration (NER); or
- Registered Professional Engineer of Professional Australia (RPEng).

• Proficient in AutoCad

• Proven ability to apply project Design Management principles

• High level experience in customer and stakeholder negotiation.
