About the role


In this role, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Directorate, supporting a range of fantastic teams and ensuring effective relationships and partnerships are established and maintained with our people, our community, Councillors, stakeholders, and other levels of government.


Core responsibilities include:

  • Providing highlevel, trusted, and confidential executive support to the Director
  • Ensuring daytoday Directorate operations and procedures are well managed and understood
  • Overseeing the Directorate's customer experience and customer request management practices
  • Coordinating the Directorate's governance and business performance reporting requirements
  • Providing support, research, analysis, and advice to the Director on projects and issues
  • Assisting teams with Executive/Council briefings, reports and presentations, and forward agenda
  • Issues management, including writing, editing, and distribution of content across channels
  • Providing effective supervision and guidance to enable the success of the Business Support Officer
  • Facilitating a crossdirectorate BSO network to deliver consistent, high quality and timely work
  • Working efficiently, flexibly, and proactively in a highly confidential and politically astute manner

About you

  • Demonstrated experience leading/developing a highperforming executive office
  • Demonstrated political acumen, tact, and diplomacy in the achievement of outcomes
  • Highly organised, cando, and flexible approach, with a strong customer focus
  • Commitment to demonstrating our organisational values
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure to meet changing deadlines
  • Ability to handle issues that may be ambiguous or sensitive in nature
  • Ability to effectively plan, organise and manage own time and workload
  • Ability to build and maintain effective and productive relationships
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills, including the use of MS office suite
  • Experience in local government or other complex and/or political organisations is desirable
