About the Position

The Associate Director (AD) position is a reliable role, working closely alongside the Deputy Vice Chancellor of International and Engagement. The AD offers well-informed guidance, insights, and leadership to support strategic and operational initiatives within the DVC's Office for effective planning and implementation.

This role involves working across both the International and Engagement sector as well as the broader University leadership team, essentially serving as the cohesive force that integrates all aspects of the I&E portfolio and ensures that their planning and operational execution are in line with the University's operational objectives and long-term strategy.

About You

An established leader with significant experience in the sector, you thrive on tackling challenges in complex and evolving environments, collaborating with a diverse group of academic and operational leaders to spearhead initiatives, solve problems, and deliver impactful results.

To excel in this role, you should have:

  • In-depth understanding of Higher Education and ideally Vocational Education and Training, encompassing global environmental issues and the significance of research, innovation, and education
  • Robust experience in partnering with senior executives in a similar capacity to provide informed advice and achieve strategic outcomes
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication abilities coupled with a high level of emotional intelligence
  • Experience operating internationally or implementing international initiatives while displaying cultural sensitivity
  • Exceptional planning and project management competencies
  • Strong business acumen, including the capacity to interpret pertinent data and market trends
  • Innately driven and exceptionally productive

About the International and Engagement Portfolio

The International and Engagement portfolio oversees RMIT's international strategy and activities, including international development and partnerships, and supervises international operations such as RMIT Vietnam and RMIT Europe. It encompasses vital engagement functions like communications, experience (global marketing, global student recruitment, alumni), and business development, partnerships, and philanthropy.

We operate across various time zones, emphasizing inclusivity and efficient information sharing, and our leadership meetings predominantly take the form of hybrid gatherings to engage with colleagues from both Vietnam and Europe.

Please Note: Appointment to this role is contingent on successfully passing a Working with Children and National Police Check.
