Your business:

The Social Impact and Community Investment team sits within the Marketing and Corporate Affairs (MCA) division of CBA. The team sets the social impact and community investment strategies for the Group and works across the business to build strong, positive and impactful relationships that align with CBA's strategy to lead in the support we provide to our customers and communities.

Your team:

The Social Impact team coordinates the Bank-wide social impact program, supporting Business and Support Units (BU/SU) to embed key social impact initiatives into the business and adhering to the requirements set out in the Environment and Social Policy. We work with BU/SU to identify current and emerging social risks and manage risk exposure through the processes of the organisation, including in relation to the areas of modern slavery and Indigenous affairs. We advise and support on the development of discrete programs of work; and support the business to make transparent disclosures on non-financial progress and performance.

The Manager, Indigenous Affairs role is a specialist role that reports to the Chapter Lead, Social Impact. In this role, you will work closely with the Senior Manager, Indigenous Affairs to support the business to further our commitment to respect human rights as set out in our Environment and Social Policy.

Your responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  • Providing insights and informed advice to business on external operating environment. Support business units and teams with reliable, quality and timely advice on Indigenous Affairs and reconciliation.
  • Supporting BU/SUs in delivering our Reconciliation Action Plan commitments, including through coordinating Working Groups and supporting our Yana Budjari National Committee.
  • Event managing engagement opportunities across the bank, including during National Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC Week.
  • Delivering key programs, including coordinating and supporting secondees as part of our partnership with Jawun.
  • Working with Mar/Comms teams to develop and execute internal and external communications and managing our internal Reconciliation Knowledge Hub to provide impactful information and resources to teams across the Bank.
  • Working with Senior Manager, Indigenous Affairs on other activities as required.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • Indigenous affairs/engagement experience is essential.
  • Project management and risk management experience with a strong ability to priorities and meet deadlines.
  • A proven ability to build effective relationships quickly and get the best out of people to drive results.
  • Solid commercial skills including: communications - both written and verbal, managing budgets, managing risk and project accountability.
  • Solid attention to detail and mostly importantly, adaptability and flexibility.
  • Adhere to the Code of Conduct which sets the standards of behaviour, actions and decisions we expect from our people.
Your capabilities
  • Strong project management experience.
  • Strong analytical skills, evident business acumen.
  • Previous experience in successfully supporting or managing complex multi-stakeholders pieces of work is essential.
  • Previous experience in an Indigenous Affairs focused role / involvement with delivering a Reconciliation Action Plan is desierable.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills are essential as the role is fast paced.
  • Change management experience is desirable.
  • Experience in finance or professional services sectors highly regarded.
