The Technology Services Department is a strategic and operational partner to the Diocese of Maitland Newcastle and its agencies and are looking for an IT Architecture and Security Manager to join their team.

Reporting to the CIO, the Architecture and Security Manager will spearhead the development, implementation, and refinement of the Diocese of Maitland–Newcastle's Enterprise IT Architecture, Cybersecurity, and Data Integration frameworks.

As a newly created role, there is broad scope to make this position you own and lead the organisation towards best practice.

This role will lead and mentor a small team of specialists, ensuring best practices in BAU activities, projects, and programs for a secure and sustainable operation and provide expert advice to the CIO on Technology Strategy, focusing on Enterprise IT and Data Architecture and Cybersecurity.

POSITION DESCRIPTIONReporting to the Chief Information Officer, the Architecture and Security Manager, within Technology Services, will lead the ongoing development, implementation and refinement of the Enterprise Architecture, Cybersecurity and Data Integration governance frameworks and policies of the Diocese of Maitland – Newcastle, and associated programs of work and BAU activities.

The key accountabilities for the Architecture and Security Manager include Enterprise Architecture, Cybersecurity, operational data integration and the alignment of Technology Services and Organisational Strategy.

The Architecture and Security Manager will lead and mentor a team of Cybersecurity and Data Integration specialists; ensuring that BAU activities, projects and programs are delivered in line with best practice and that the Diocese operates in a secure and sustainable manner.

The role will contribute to the strategic direction, efficiency and effectiveness of the Technology Services department working closely with stakeholders across the organisation and beyond.

The Architecture and Security Manager will provide expert advice to the CIO in establishing the Technology Strategy, with a particular focus on Enterprise Architecture and Cybersecurity.

Cybersecurity risk management:

ability to identify, assess, and manage cyber risks, understand strategic and technical components of IT security management, and develop strategies and measurements to mitigate or respond to potential threats or attacks.

Enterprise IT architecture & technical expertise: comprehensive 'macro' and 'micro' IT skill sets encompassing the areas of IT architecture, security, and strategy including business process design, IT service and solution delivery, as well as supporting enterprise architecture frameworks including TOGAF.


Compliance and regulations:

understanding of relevant Australian laws and regulations, and ability to ensure alignment with industry standards, such as ISO/IEC 27001, NIST, the Australian Cyber Security Centre's Essential Eight, and the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.


External stakeholder engagement:

ability to engage effectively with external stakeholders, including customers, partners, vendors, regulators, and industry associations, to build strong relationships, understand their needs, and collaborate on strategic issues.


Communication and collaboration:

excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders across different levels of the enterprise.


Business acumen:

ability to understand business needs and translate them into effective IT architecture, integration, security, and strategy solutions that support the organisation's objectives.

Understanding of relevant best-practice frameworks, including IT service management (ITIL), project management, IT asset lifecycle management, risk management, financial management, and IT Governance.

Experience working in religious, not-for-profit, social services, child care, housing, and/or education settings would be highly valued, but not essential.

QUALIFICATIONSTertiary qualifications in Information Technology; or an equivalent combination of knowledge gained through education, training and /or experience.
Current Class C Driver's Licence.
Current Working With Children Check (WWCC).
Tertiary qualifications in team leadership or management (Desirable).
Possession of an Enterprise Architecture framework certification such as TOGAF (Desirable).
Tertiary qualifications in cybersecurity or industry certifications such as CISSPISC2, CEHEC-Council, Comp TIA, ACS, Microsoft, or others (Desirable).
Possession of Data Engineering/Integration training or certification (Desirable).
Possession of an IT Service Management certification such as ITIL (Desirable).
Possession of a Project Management certification such as PMBOK, PRINCE 2 or Agile (Desirable).
Possession of a Change Management Certification such as Prosci or CCMP (Desirable).

Possession of other technology industry or vendor certifications, such as: Service Now, Microsoft, HPE/Aruba, Cisco, Comp TIA, Zscaler, Okta, Apple (or others) (Desirable).
