About the team
The NSW Government is leading the way in the race towards net zero emissions.
The primary industries and land sector is well positioned to reduce emissions, sequester carbon from the atmosphere, generate revenue from carbon and biodiversity credits, improve productivity, and attract global investment in natural capital.
The Net Zero Land team is focused on building a critical mass of carbon abatement projects in the land sector and supporting farmers to take action on climate change.

Primary Industries Productivity and Abatement
Our team is located in a variety of locations across NSW and uses a combination of in-person and online working arrangements.
About the role:
There is 1 role available within the Net Zero Land team, focused on supporting landholders to undertake carbon activities and deliver environmental outcomes alongside production.
You'll be working in the Funds Management stream of the Net Zero Land team to:
- Assist in the design, build, assessment, and management of grants through SmartyGrants, including an upcoming project aimed at biodiversity habitat regeneration a using carbon planting method
- Provide SmartyGrants assistance to High Impact Partnership contract managers where required
- Respond to stakeholder enquiries relating to established or upcoming grant projects
- Deliver agreed outcomes on time, on budget, and to quality standards, and demonstrated time management and organisational skills
- Adequately prioritise tasks, be able to handle competing deadlines, and be able to work independently when required
About You
By joining our team, you will bring your professional expertise to work on key projects and initiatives that support the transition to net-zero emissions in NSW across the primary industries and land sector.
- You have superior knowledge of the operational requirements for successful delivery of sustainability climate change, resilience, adaptation and/or net zero emissions programs.
- You have demonstrable grant management experience, including the use of grant management systems such as SmartyGrants
- You have a proven ability to work independently to deliver tasks on time, to handle responsibilities and priorities without significant manager input
- You have excellent written and oral communication skills
- You will be a strong team player, proactive in fostering good team culture and delivering results.
- You value a diversity of viewpoints and are adept at collaborating with a range of stakeholders to drive outcomes.
Desirable Requirements
- Environmental Science, Sustainability, Primary Industries, Natural Resource Management experience, with knowledge of netzero and naturebased decarbonisation solutions.
- Experience delivering outcomes through a collaborative delivery approach.
- Project/grant management and delivery experience in Aboriginal programs, the primary industries and land sector, the environmental sector, and environmental markets.
