The Challenge
The purpose of this role is to lead the development and delivery of a diverse range of complex, evidence-based strategy and policy projects, engage internal stakeholders, customers and the community, as well as regional, government and industry stakeholders, to enhance outcomes for Hunter Water and our region.
What you'll do:
- Manage complex technical investigations, including both inhouse investigations and management of consultants and other service providers, to provide evidence to support decisionmaking regarding wastewater, Integrated Water Management (IWM), circular economy, resources, carbon, energy and climate policies and strategies.
- Critically analyse data, reports, studies, submissions, regulatory issues and highly conceptual issues.
- Make recommendations to support the Executive Management Team and Board of Directors with decisionmaking regarding complex policy and strategy matters related to wastewater, IWM, circular economy, resources, carbon, energy and climate.
- Engage and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify shared goals, develop practical solutions and improve the enabling regulatory and policy environment for wastewater, IWM, circular economy, resources, carbon, energy and climate outcomes.
- Lead engagement with customers and the community and incorporate their views into decisionmaking.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify and assess opportunities for shared value.
- Support the implementation of any approved changes in this area.
What you'll need to be successful:
Essential Criteria:
- Tertiary qualifications in science or engineering.
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge in complex analysis and either strategic planning or policy development.
- Advance written and verbal communication skills.
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience leading a crossdisciplinary project team.
- Experience/knowledge in regulatory review and managing activities associated with water/wastewater/Integrated Water Management service provision and resource planning.
- Experience in undertaking research, consultation, development, implementation, review and evaluation for policy and strategic planning projects.
- Knowledge of the processes for the planning and/or delivery of water and wastewater services, water resource management, land use planning, or the principles of IWM.
