About the Team

The Legal Branch of the Department of Industry, Science and Resources advises on various legislative, program, and policy matters influencing Australia's economic growth and job creation.

The Information Law team, part of the Legal Branch, is involved in diverse and engaging tasks such as:

  • Processing Freedom of Information (FOI) requests
  • Offering guidance on privacy and information handling obligations
  • Managing privacy incidents
  • Conducting privacy assessments
  • Providing training on FOI and privacy issues
  • Supporting Minister's Offices with FOI obligations
  • Developing governance material for compliance

The team operates in a dynamic and supportive environment, collaborating closely with senior executives and staff across various departmental areas.

What You Will Do

As an FOI Officer, you will manage all aspects of FOI requests and reviews, including providing guidance to decision-makers and handling case files efficiently.

At higher levels, you will draft advice, manage complex requests, and contribute to team management.

Eligibility

Candidates must be Australian Citizens and hold a Baseline security clearance.

Notes:

A merit pool may be created to fill future vacancies, and flexible work arrangements are available.

Vacancies can be in Canberra, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, or Melbourne.
