About the Position:


The Health Promotion officer role (Parental leave cover until 4 October 2024) is adaptive to current and evolving health promotion priorities.

Key portfolio priorities include prevention from harm (gambling and vaping), healthy eating and mental wellbeing including loneliness and social connections.

A strong understanding and experience in prevention from gambling harm is required due to Monash's public health leadership in the local government sector on this particular issue.


The role will undertake policy, program and project work using a social determinants of health approach and alignment with Council's Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing plan (MPHWP).

The role is integral in supporting the development of the MPHWP every 4 years, progressing the plan's commitments and identifying key health outcomes for the Monash community.

Supporting the development, implementation and evaluation of Council's Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan

Lead key portfolio priorities including prevention from harm (gambling and vaping), healthy eating and mental wellbeing including loneliness and social connection

Develop and implement evidence-based health promotion policies and programs

Develop strong and collaborative internal and external partnerships and networks (local, regional and State) to embed health and wellbeing across Monash

To be considered for the role, you will have:
Demonstrated understanding and experience in prevention from gambling harm

Involvement in leading evidence based program design, implementation and evaluation

Excellent communication skills both written and verbal and a proactive attitude.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects in a fast paced political environment

Tertiary qualification in health promotion and/or public health with several years of relevant experience
