selectability is a not-for-profit charity committed to improving mental wellbeing and contributing to suicide prevention across regional Queensland.
We provide and coordinate NDIS supports, offer clinical services and deliver government funded mental wellbeing, carer and youth support programs.
We are one of the largest providers of mental health services across our diverse footprint – extending from Cairns to Rockhampton and Palm Island to Mount Isa ... and growing.
The Carer Gateway program provides support to unpaid carers in selectability's footprint by way of care services such counselling, coaching, in-person peer support (group) sessions. We also assist carers to seek respite as well as financial support.

About the role
Facilitated Coaching is a one-to-one service that is carer led and directed. The coaching service aims to support carers to increase their individual capacity by empowering them to find practical, small steps towards self-identified goals. It involves the carer engaging with a coach to assist them to acquire skills and resilience to help them sustain their caring role.
As a Facilitated Coach while meeting monthly KPIs, you will deliver coaching sessions with carers, empower them to understand their needs/goals and to make decisions and actions independently.
You will be facilitating one-one-one coaching to carers, whilst creating an environment Carers will find welcoming, real and safe. This role will also require you to Facilitate In Person Peer Support (IPPS) Group sessions with carers. Many of our carers receiving one-on-one supports often move into the group space so the ability to cross refer, and identify additional services carers can utilise to build their capacity further, will be expected.
The Facilitated Coach will support the Palm Island community, this role may be suitable for an individual located on Palm Island or located in Townsville with the fly-in-fly-out (daily).
Main duties:
This Facilitated Coach reports directly to the Carer Coordinator and is responsible for:
- administering and complete registration, assessment, and planning activities with carers who are accessing the consortia partners core services of facilitated coaching
ensure action plans are developed with carers that reflect their aspirations - responds to the current support needs, and contributes to their overall health and wellbeing
- entering carer details into the client management system, ensuring statutory requirements
- conduct risk assessments, including assessment of suicide risk and action and safety plans to mitigate any risks, providing follow ups support if required, and communicating all risk to direct line manager for escalation
- provide carers with information non internal and external programs/services ensuring referral pathways for carers and their families
- provide carers with the skills to identify their own needs
assist carers to develop strategies to improve their caring situation and overall wellbeing
About you
To be considered for this rewarding role you will have:
- experience in administration or support roles
- experience in mental health (highly desirable)
- ability to empathise with carers and show compassion
- ability to demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality, courtesy and discretion
- excellent organisation and prioritisation skills
- ability to work independently and collaboratively
- excellent written and verbal communication skills
You will also need:
- a Certificate III in Community Services (highly desirable)
- a current drivers licence (minimum P1)
- a roadworthy, registered and comprehensively insured car
- a Positive Notice Working with Children (blue card) (or the ability to obtain prior to commencement)
- a current yellow card exemption or a NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (or the ability to obtain prior to commencement)
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module 'Quality, Safety & You' completion certificate (visit to access this free module)
