Junior Gardener / Minor Home Maintenance Person

Help at Home (a program of Inner West Neighbour Aid)

Casual (1 to 3 days per week)

Inner West Neighbour Aid is a fully incorporated association, established in 1992.

We are a not for profit organisation that is primarily funded under the Commonwealth Home Support Programme and other grants.

We are a community for seniors living in the inner west, providing exercise programs, intergenerational connections, home and community visiting, pet adoption and volunteer dog walking, social outings, a centre-based program, workshops and garden services.


Help at Home is our private program, it offers professional, reliable and personalised garden and home maintenance services in the inner west. Funds from Help at Home provide an additional income stream to support the Mission of Inner West Neighbour Aid.


We are after someone who is hard working, friendly, willing to listen and learn, values seniors in our community and is passionate about caring for other peoples' gardens, lawns and homes.


This position offers:

  • Pay rate at Level 2 Pay Point 1 under the NSW Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award 2010 (SCHADS) Award
  • Casual, (1 to 3 working days per week)
  • Working towards a permanent part time position, as the business is growing
  • Flexible working hours and a great supportive team

Selection Criteria

Ideally applicants will have:

  • Qualifications (or currently studying) horticulture and minimum 2 years' experience in gardening, landscaping or lawn mowing
  • Experience or interest in the aged or community care sector
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a small team
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • Moderate level computer skills including working knowledge of MS Access Databases, Windows operating system
  • Knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) legislation and safe practices
  • Senior First Aid Certificate or willingness to undertake same
  • COVID19 full vaccination or willingness to undertake same
  • Current 1A Drivers License
  • Willingness to use own roadworthy vehicle. Inner West Neighbour Aid to provide mileage reimbursement
